As has been announced previously, there is now WebAccess available to portions of the OL In Game Channels.

The current features available are:
  • Read Only access of channels updated every 5 seconds
  • Recent channel history (currently the lesser of 8 hours or 200 lines)
  • Characters can use #web_access to define a password for WebAccess
  • WebAccess login only works if the character has been in game during the last week
  • Certain information about the character is saved for use by WebAccess, including but not limited to Premium Membership, Guild Affiliation, Mod/IM status
  • Mod/IM's are treated as if the have Premium Membership automatically by WebAccess
  • Sending messages to certain specific channels or players is available for Premium Members that are logged into WebAccess
  • If you are logged into WebAccess and have Premium Membership, the system will check to see if you have an unread Delayed Messages, if so, an additional fake channel will be available for those messages
  • In game mutes etc will block your ability to send messages from WebAccess
  • IM's have additional special WebAccess pages not listed here
Each Channel can have different features or restrictions placed on it:
  • Require being logged into WebAccess
  • Require Premium Membership or being a Mod/IM
  • Require being a Guild Member
  • Require being a Mod/IM
  • Control if you can send to that channel via WebAccess (premium always required to send messages)
  • Allow daily log files of channel discussions & downloading of files
Currently in-progress:
  • Realtime server information similar to the original InGame page
  • IM related Pages
Possible future directions:
  • Recent death history?
  • Premium Guild features?
  • Additional NPC Merchant Admin information
  • ?
The WebAccess subsystem is available by clicking on the InGame link on the website.

Current Public Channels:
  • Game - Server wide messages such as Special Day, Joker, Lottery, Mod/IM Messages (including invasion counts)
  • Market - Channel 3 so you can see recent & current Buy/Sell ads
  • Events/DTF - Channel 666
Current Login Channels
  • Stats - you can view some of your own stats after you login into WebAccess. This page does not auto update!
  • NPC Merchant Location, Status, & Guild
  • NPC Merchant Inventory by clicking on a merchants name in the NPC Merchant listing
  • NPC Merchant transaction log download (Merchant Admins Only)
  • NameChange history, newest to oldest
  • Item Summary listing all the items the server knows about and minimal information
  • Degrade Info listing wearable items, some wear info, and if they break or what they degrade to.
Current Premium Channels:
  • Newbie - Channel 1
  • Invasions - Channel 6
  • Developer - for discussions of possible changes (with 30 days of logs), Forums should be updated as ideas are fleshed out
  • Guild - Shows #GM, #IM and @guild channel activity for your Guild only. Posting to @guild permitted.
  • Delayed - Shows delayed message and allows you to send delayed messages to players

Read-Only access of GuildChat is now available via WebAccess to Premium members.

The first version of being able to see your own player Stats is available to all players via WebAccess after they login into the WebAccess system. This includes Attrs, Skills, PK, and Counters. A portion of your Achievements are also shown.

More information will be added in the future.

this player information is private! You can only see your own stats.

Just a quick update that I've started testing code that allows sending delayed PM's/messages to players through the WebAccess interface. This is not yet generally available amd will require some server changes to get rid of a couple problems.

The plan is to add that as being available to PremiumMembers once we feel it's stable enough.

Came up with a way that the server won't get bogged down by WebAccess chat ... adding premium players being able to use WebAccess to chat in selected channels once I address more issues with Spammers.

Proof of concept testing of IM's being able to post to channels or send PM's from WebAccess is active on Test. Once enough security measures are in place to reduce spamming, PremiumMembers will be given the ability to send PM's or post in channels 1/3/6 through WebAccess. Additional work will be required before posting to the Guild channel can be permitted.

If there are channels people feel are important for PremiumMembers to be able to post messages to through WebAccess, please give your feedback. Event/DTF (666) will not be available so that it's reserved for those active in game to reduce distractions.

I definitely feel like Premium members aswell as IM's should be given this access, baring in mind we have server anti-spam code in place. Incase any trolls get bright ideas and attempt to spam through it.

Unlikely trolls will pay 3/30 dollars to spam 6 lines of text before server boots them.

Even if that is the case, IM's can mute/boot accordingly?

I feel like this update will do alot more good being available to players than limited to IM's only(it proved more than useful for Grimm when he was having PC troubles).

Any future Event channels/DTF channel should be limited to game chat only, IM/Premium members have no relevance in that situation unless they are participating themselves.

The idea is to make it available to the players via Premium. The IM limit currently is just to limit access until changes can be made to the anti spam systems to reduce issues. For example, this is currently bypassing most of the server side anti spam measures in the game server.

Yes, before it goes live to players, muting/booting will be available.

Ah sorry L, actually didnt read the full post before I replied :P  Everything I said still stands though. I dont see more than 1/3/6 being wanted/needed through WebAccess chat by premium membership. If its possible maybe add MOD chat too, although that may be quite null, but nice option to have for future incase someone needs a message to be relayed to all IM's?

Yes, other things are already being looked at for future expansion. MOD for example is a special case in the server, not an ordinary channel so more will have to be done to add that.

So far everything is looking good to include the needed server changes with the next server update to allow WebAccess to send PM's as if delayed to players and letting them chat in limited public channels..

Item Summary list & Worn Item + Degrade List has been added to WebAccess for all users that are logged into it.

Thanks for this L; this will help me immensely with updating/verifying wiki data, especially with the weapon stats and having the degrade list handy in the next tab :)
