Yes, it's a good way to make sure people renew if they want and for the game to keep a little cash flow without learner having to keep track manually.  If the game ever gets bots, the bot expiration should have an auto warning too.

Keep in mind where they are in the priorities can also be changed, since you do get a message at login now, that does help lower the priority more.

The number 1 thing on to do list should be do something to attract noobs. but now it is down to an average of 12 players per day and no one cares. what we have is a few hackers making changes no one understands and people leaving from boredom from nothing to do. I would really like to see this game be a real hit but when no one listens to any noobs how is it ever going to change. the ones in power here are the ones who have already made their fortune in gc and stats and have no worries.

There is absolutely nothing here to be of interest to a noob.

Personally, I agree with your point that the #1 thing on the list needs to be attracting new players but, for different reasons :

1) Some of the most important aspects of gameplay depend on player interaction, ie combat, trade, politics, socialisation, competition. It's not just the case that the fewer players you have, the less opportunity there is to engage in such activities, the proper functioning of the entire game largely depends on player numbers and, therefore breaks down below a certain threshold.

2) The number of players in the game is a significant factor in attracting new players. It's not just the case that existing players introduce new players, but that player numbers is a critical factor in making the game attractive to new players.

3) Any player who joins the game will eventually leave. It necessarily follows that, unless you are continually attracting and new players, player numbers will fall. That not only makes the game less attractive to new players (as per 2) but, less fun for existing players (as per 1).

4) The game is still in heavy development and testing, however; there's obvious difficulties in trying to develop gameplay that largely relies on a critical mass of player interaction when there aren't sufficient players

I wouldn't say that no one cares, but clearly not enough ppl care to do anything about it (beyond whining on teh forums ofc).

No guesses who this is aimed at lol....

Are you :
a) asking for a more detailed explanation of what i'm doing ?
b ) stating that you see no real use or value in it ?
c) categorising me within a part of the community you regard as tedious, pointless and unrepresentative ?

Not quite sure why you think noobs are listened to any less than long-standing players are, but I did lol at your pouting about 'the ones in power'.

Did you have me in mind again when you came up with that jewel ?

Well i'd disagree with that one on just about every level. However, put very simply, a new player clearly has more to do and explore in-game than someone who's been playing ages and has explored and done nearly everything.

Would you not say ?

You make a point (that attracting noobs should be the number 1 priority for the game) and I fully support it.

What more do you want ?

I simply made the same suggestion i have been making ever since i joined ol and every one always laughs me off. then you acuse me of blaming you. well i have no clue who you are in game and have no reason to accuse you. contrary to your beliefs not everything is about you!!!!!.

I just want to see this game improve and it steadily gets worse until even the pk guys quit. That's no great loss but when all of us are gone where the programmers gonna be. You will be sitting around in a circle wondering what went wrong. The problems is no one listens.

The main point now is there is no game? When is it going to start? 10 years from now maybe when all us old timers are long in the grave?

I think your suggestion is good (certainly not anything to laugh at). However, there's no magic wand that can be waved to solve the issue. It's pretty much down to what individuals can, and are prepared, to do to make things happen.

You did post "what we have is a few hackers making changes no one understands" didn't you ???

That hardly seems very tactful.

Precisely how many ppl do we have here that fall neatly into the category of "hackers making changes no one understands" ?

Is it necessary for someone to listen ? I program because I like programming, but also because it allows me to implement my own ideas in my own time and in my own way. There's nothing to stop anyone else taking the same approach to recruitment.

How about we raise some cash and organise some advertisements, write some reviews, vote up the game on the mmo league tables, attend some of the linux conventions and promote the game ?  It's something any of us can do, individually or working together and I bet it's far easier than wrestling with structs, pointers and code.
