I've been learning map editor and made my own little map. It's a place all gnomes can run to when L is online. I'll try to put screenshots directly in here, but I wouldn't be surprised if I mess it up lol. Links should work.

Map looks good :) beach is a bit boring still, but I assume there's lots of small 2d and 3d objects still to come. Have you thought about npcs/spawns yet, and what people will want to *do* on the map?

since this post referred to Maki's images which she removed, this is now edited because you cannot delete a post once it is in the forum.  I also agree with Maki about the beach looking a little bare ;)

Yes, the map will have a lot more details when it's finished.

Yes, I have thought about NPCs and places for harvestables etc. The storage will go on NewHope Island just outside the big house. The only close harvestables will be a few random flowers. The rest of the map is far enough away that we could put other harvestables out there :)

The caves will be just as extensive as the islands, with plenty of secrets and long routes to better harvestables.

I don't quite know about spawn locations yet, but they will be similar creatures to DP.

I think me and you are doing similar things that could prove problematic: trying to do too much with one map.

That teleporter in the fort looks awkward and out of place. Wood, mud, wood... wait a second, glowing white stone. Whaaaaaaat.

Make the ground around the palm tree bottoms a bit more interesting imo. Actually, quite a lot of the map could do with that. But like maki said, that's all still to come.

In the fort, again, the walkway around the sides has nothing to support it other than the wall it's coming a fair bit out from. Put in some support beams or something to fill in underneath it.

I also still want to shout at you about the two mountain ranges with the water inbetween them.

The way i see it, is that these are connected in some way, the way the one on the left leads out, then ends, makes it look like it should have some impact on the positioning of the mountain on the one on the right (and it does the opposite of what I would expect it too). It's long and thin in the opposite way that I would expect.

I would think about editing it so that the little beach between the two (at points) is instead rocks that go down more gradually. A large problem, imo, with EL, is that every bloody mountain was the same heights. Just change it enough to add a clearer suggestion of it being connected. And i know there could be bedrock underneath it that we *can't* see, but give enough suggestion for it to look good. And, yes, I am being an ass about it. But it's disturbing me. More than you guys spelling aeons as eons. That nearly broke me.

I lilke that you try, but what you need to focus on is more details, definatelly.

The trick is to have detail without slowing the framerate. Too much detail or too many of the wrong items slows systems down.

I worked a bit on the maps last night. Finished the base insides map and the caverns map and made some basic .def files.

Also fixed some of butler's many complaints. Here are some screenies:
