Eternal Lands has had an EL client for a while, but as of lately Radu has decided to put an actual client out for Android. It works just like the computer client and I believe this would be a handy asset for OL as well. Is there any way to speak with Radu on this and get one for OL, or you change the server location and the interface then we have a client for android as well?
Would anyone else use this?

You would actually want to apply additional OL changes to it. Radu & I are already speaking and I've helped him troubleshoot some of his issues, but he's doing most of the work.

So does that mean there could potentially be an OL android client? That'd be pretty cool.

Well, I am just saying the Android client as that's what Radu's making, and has had made... Find someone with an iOS and coding skills and maybe, Radu says he makes it for Android because he has an android phone... Not to mention it is easier to get apps on the appstore and to download from unknown sources on Android.

Plus, he is using the Android NDK, several Android specific packages, combined with a modified version of the EL client C/C++ code to implement it.

Oh, have a lot more then that :) He even gave me the direct youtube link before he posted on FB. Just so many other things to do at things time I'll let him get the kinks our of it first. I also know exactly which 3rd party packages he's using, and there is a GIT repository which he is trying to keep up to date with how many changes are going in daily. If I ever have time I'll try to see if I can make an OL version, including the OL extensions. Until Radu slows down on all all his changes, I recommend anyone excited about this wait until Radu slow down, and then be prepared to add in all the OL specific extensions.

Later, after thing have stabilized I can look into an officual OL Android client I build.

So now that the client has been out for almost a year with a finalized copy, how about the OL one? :D

Some one will have to commit to putting the OL specific protocol, features, files, & maps as well as put back in the ability to auto-update. Then check to see what else Radu removed to get it working that we need. Features include X-Attrs, different exp chart, OL protocol extensions, network data compression, more then 3 channels, and there may be others.

I miss OL, I'd pay $$$ to have it on Android. Mobile is the way of future gaming sadly.

Radu has kept the source very close to himself, though one person hacked his to replace with OL files. Bluap current efforts to create a new SDL2 client for EL & OL, and eventually create his own Android port based on his SDL2 code instead of Radu's crude hacks.

To sum this up a bit better for everyone.

Currently, we all know of Radu's EL Android client I'm sure. That works fine for EL, as it is stripped of autoupdates, and general functionality. Each build of Android (depending on how closely it mimics a pc according to the client) ultimately determines what issues you'll come across.

You can currently get an updated "cracked" version as I'd like to call the current OL android. We do this by taking what we can of OL's changes and working them in- such as Alroth. The most current update can be found posted by Warken I believe.

I have suggested that these updates cease until Bluaps new Android is in place, as we can make it far better... and honestly, functional. (Some people D/C in battles, some cannot type/send messages, the inventory takes your whole screen unless on a tablet. Etc.)

Bluap has made a brand new por tof the PC Client to SDL2 that works much better then Radu's hack, and is planning a new Android client based on that code which will be easier to maintain then Radu's Hack in the future. That is needs to be the basis for an OL Android Client, not what Radu threw together.

Was lucky enough to get a link to Bluaps android client to have a play with this morning.

I like it a lot......

https://www.youtube....h?v=07xTZNo5KAo

There was some problems with dropping and equipping items but found that clicking on the "walk" icon and then trying to equip/drop items enabled me to do this as required.

Great work Bluap and look forward to a finished version for OL that will work as new maps are rolled out.

OMG.

Oh and end of video froze when my internet crashed but nothing to do with client.

I use the new Bluaps apk daily and it works well. Quick bar spells automatically default to 6 slots rather than my 12, but that's not a big deal at all. Great work :)

I'm holding off on publishing links to the APK until it's updated to handle autoupdate properly. Several people have been given the link privately, but thats still an experimental version.
