Coming at this from a farmers point of view, and I am sure newer players, having certainty about the mobs in the area is important. Once you reach the level where Gobs ignore you then you can go harvest gold in VOTD caves, to suddenly say that Gobs may still attack at random would be a problem. Maps become "Safe" for players and they know they can go there without risk to use stores etc. A change in the way this works would have the greatest impact on new players and non fighters, fighters want mobs to attack them so that they get experience more easily! If mobs can gain confidence when they have a boss or are in large numbers the reverse should apply and Mobs should be actively running away when they see a strong player.
Also, should HP be taken into the equation? The amount of HP must affect a person’s survival chances in a fight, everything else being equal then the player with the lowest HP will die first.
