The Main Server is going down for an hour or so, so that we can switch to the bigger, faster, New Main server in the building next to the old one!

Final testing is in progress. If you can't connect currently it may be either it's being restarted or your PC has leanred of the new location yet!

The current plan is to start this next weekend off with a 25K mob invasions spread over multiple maps to help load test the serverwith more players killing. Please be prepared for that!

Server was doing so well with 25K mobs, we ended up with 28K mobs spread across 33 maps. No lag caused by the server report by any players and CPU load of 20% to 24%!

Actually, with how good the performance on this server is, I keep finding myself tempted to re-arrange how some of the code to allow even more mobs without lag, despite no need for that! But that won't become a priority unless I see performance issues ... just iwll pester me.

Well, this test had 28K mobs spread across 33 maps, and average CPU usage was was well below 25% !!! Of course that would go up if all one one map!

What is even more important is that players say no lag with that many mobs added to the game!

Part of that means that I have a lot more elbow room to enhance the AI logic without having a negative effect on the game.

So this test determined that there is 'room' within server/software to handle more maps/mobs or AI?, or both?.

Yes to ALL!

Also means that some things I have considered in the past to improve overall performance can be considered without risk of affecting the system ... which would allow for even smarter AI or more mobs while improving performance by using additional CPU cores for processing that logic. In the past, I have been more hesitant so we wouldn't affect 'normal play', now there is enough room for performance to allow for these sorts of changes.

4K mobs in PL, and the server didn't really notice them ... so the next major test won't be until HWeek when we can really go all out!!!
