Over the last couple of days i've seriously considered where my time, energy and money is best spent.
In the hours prior to this post I quit WoW and posted on Blizzard's forums about why I canceled my subscription (not that I expect my concerns alone about class balance to have any real effect). (Edit: I guess this doesn't have any real impact on anything here, it's more just a statement of my general distancing myself from particular time consumers that perhaps aren't looking like they're going to offer me what i'm look for). I've also started proceedings to end my administration of the Unofficial EL Forums, as there's no gain for me in continuing to administer them.

I am also no longer willing to contribute to the Other-Life project.

I'm not going to get deep into the problems I believe exist with this project, because I don't think any good will come of it. I do believe that this project still has some great minds contributing to it and does have potential to go far. I wish OL and you all the best, even those people I've rarely seen eye-to-eye with.

Those who i'm particularly close to are 'Facebook friends' and i'll continue my friendship with them via that or other means. To the rest of you, farewell.

I've decided to stay and contribute as a type of forum-truthsayer. I require no thanks, it's no trouble really.

Post like this annoy me. What good will this do this game community?
This is a post for your own benefit. A theatrical end only staged for yourself. Since you say you will continue talking to your friends on facebook, why on earth bother posting here saying farewell to unknown people?
Again, it is to satisfy your own need for justification and NOT benefitting this game which need positivism to no end. Very selfish disappointing post from an (for me) unknown guy.

But to satisfy your hunger: good luck korrode..

lol... because there's quite a lot of people i've known for a good while on these forums who i'm not in contact with via non EL-connected means. I'm just saying bye to them.

You read too deeply into it, imagining things that aren't there, and speak with no knowledge of context/history.

I certainly don't care if i've disappointed you, you think you're smarter and more insightful than you actually are and you're either some newb scrub , or someone who's EL rep is so bad that they're too afraid to use their known name. BuhBye.

G'luck and Take Care Korradu<3

I think you should still drop in and voice your opinion occasionally whether you contribute to ideas or not it's nice to see a PoV from an 'outsider' if they are no longer playing.

Enjoy your RL and see you around. (o/)

Im incredibly disapointed in you for leaving right now Korrode after Learner has decided to test your combat and attributes system and set up a test server for it, and especially after you spent many days dismissing as unimportant any other changes to his game.

im not mad, but very disapointed in you for walking away based on some idea that you will not get what you want ?

lame

You know a lot of what you say is untrue or a huge stretch of the truth, aTeh.

Surely you realise that the time Learner has spent adjusting the server to test my attributes/combat system is time he needs to have spent to test any new attirbs/combat system, right?

I'm sure you also know that I haven't "spent many days dismissing as unimportant any other changes", a lot of other people have been a lot more vocal than me about wanting to improve combat quickly, with the exception of (some parts of) my recent complaints regarding how the current system of getting changes made has not resulted in fast progress, I didn't really press that hard for my suggestions being implemented before others.

Not to mention, i've left a lot of baseline concepts for others to work off and improve on. You're disappointed with me leaving? Get some perspective: I could go remove the content of every suggestion post i've ever made on these forums. Then I'd understand some disappointment.

As for me not getting what I want; I don't like the organisational structure of the project so i'm doing what seems like the only logical course and leaving it. Why should I continue voluntarily investing my time in a project I don't agree with some key operational methodology of? It'd be weak and "lame" if I did stay.

Perhaps, but I think one can best contribute to the design of a MMORPG when they actually play it regularly. I don't think it's completely vital, but the benefit of the extra insight gained by actually playing is undeniable.

You can of course get the Ghostcrawler problem, where the class (or type, specialisation, etc.) of character you personally play gets favoured, but a developer like that should be removed from the design team anyway.

Actually Korrode , you did spend many days saying the most important thing for this game in your opinion was to change the combat system ( and yes eventually Learner would have tested any system presented so well ) and it was YOUR system you wanted introduced, but now youve left when testing is not even finished.

I think thats disapointing, just because im not inclined to kiss peoples ass due to popular consensus doesn't mean I make things up as I go along, quite the opposite I have asked questions based upon what I believe is not being asked, or from the mindset of a non regular player who is seeing all this for the first time.

You will find me able to direct anybody to the Poll which was to decide on priority development, in which you were vocal about other aspects of the game being less important than your combat system being introduced.

Therefore, it is a disapointment to see you walk away before its even finished testing based upon the assumption that it isnt going quick enough , or not exactly to your liking.

I for one can tell you straight that you are going to have a great deal of difficulty finding any project in which you have your own way and exactly what you want unless you have funded it yourself , or are literally the worlds leading game engine developer and seeing as you are neither of these things I draw the conclusion that your exit from this project is best described as lame.

Thanks.
I was waiting for you to start digging yourself a hole, you've obliged.
http://www.other-lif...-ol-priorities/
There's the thread, go quote where I pushed for my combat system to be implemented before other stuff and was "vocal about other aspects of the game being less important than my combat system"... hell, I didn't even start posting on that thread until the poll already had many votes on it so I could see what most people felt was a priority.
Get to it, smart guy.

Meh, I had a project where game design was filtered through myself and one highly intelligent person. It does suck for me that he dropped out and I can't perform everything required to continue it alone. So much progress was made. So much potential was there. Really, really sad.

lol seriously fuck you, you try to paint me in a much worse light than is the truth, go fuck yourself. you've proven yourself a halfwit repeatedly anyway. Contributors come and go from projects, their contributions remain and get tweaked by others, welcome to open software development, you scrub.

Oh it's been years since i didn't put RL first over gaming or anything related, i've just adjusted what "comes first" in my allocated gaming time. that being SW:TOR > OL. xD

(30ms ping is so win btw)
